I think the new sidebar in vBulletin 4 is long overdue and I really love the way it’s done, it gives your users the ability to show the sidebar, or hide it.
To enable the forum sidebar in vBulletin you need to login to your admin control panel and go to:
1. AdminCP > Options > Forum Sidebar and Block Options > enable the Forum Sidebar option
Your forum sidebar is now active, but unless you add something to it, you won’t see it. So next you’ll need to go to:
2. AdminCP > Forums & Moderators > Forum Blocks Manager > Add Block > select from list below:
- Blog Entries
- CMS Articles
- Custom HTML/PHP
- Forum Threads
- New Forum Posts
- Social Group Discussions
- Tag Cloud
Add your blocks, set a display order and you are all set!
You can also disable any of your blocks, without deleting them, for future use by clicking [ edit ] and checking the ‘no’ for the active field.
Click save and you’re done. You can come back and reactivate it when you need it.
